Tell us about your organisation.
Twilight Aged Care is a not-for-profit organisation with over 100 years of history, deeply embedded in the North Sydney community and the early Australian feminist movement. Founded in 1915 to protect vulnerable women, particularly those who were financially and socially at risk after losing their husbands or never marrying, Twilight Aged Care has grown from its original home in Mosman, to five residential aged care homes.
We currently provide high-quality residential care to over 200 men and women across northern Sydney, supported by a dedicated team of more than 300 staff. Despite our growth, we remain committed to the values and philosophy of the pioneering women who founded the organisation. By maintaining a smaller, boutique model, we ensure a home-like environment and personalized care for each resident, offering them not only exceptional integrated care, but also a sense of independence, dignity, and community.
What is your mission?
Our mission at Twilight Aged Care is to create a safe and supportive home for men and women in need of care, while also extending support to their families. We are deeply committed to delivering the highest quality of holistic care, which allows our residents to maintain their independence, individuality, dignity, and overall quality of life. Our focus is always on ensuring a nurturing, home-like environment where residents feel respected and valued.
Tell us about your programs.
At Twilight Aged Care, we offer a variety of volunteer programs that cater to different interests, skills, and time commitments, ensuring that anyone can make a meaningful contribution. Our volunteer team is made up of compassionate people from all walks of life – parents, grandparents, students, and professionals – each bringing their unique energy and talents to enrich the lives of our residents. Whether our volunteer have a few hours a week or just a couple of hours a fortnight, we have programs that will fit our volunteer’s schedule.
Some of our key volunteer programs include:
Social Companionship: Simply spending time with residents, whether it’s sharing a cup of tea, lending an ear, or going for a walk, can greatly improve their sense of well-being. Volunteers provide residents with personal connections and emotional support, which enhances their overall quality of life.
Activity Assistance: Volunteers can help with group activities such as arts and crafts, music, gardening, or games. These activities are designed to stimulate residents, both mentally and physically, while fostering a sense of community.
No matter the program, volunteers at Twilight Aged Care make a real difference in the lives of our residents and staff. The flexibility of our programs allows anyone with a heart to give back and find a meaningful way to contribute.
